For over thirty years, the Magnum Tournament has been a fixture within our club. This international event welcomes teams from Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and Great Britain every year. It is the place where badminton enthusiasts come together for exciting matches and a great atmosphere.
đ¯ What makes the Magnum Tournament unique?
- Team tournament in pool form: Exclusively for doubles and mixed, with teams of at least two women and two men.
- Play at your level: Teams are divided into categories of 1-5, 5-7, 7-9, 9-11 and 11-12/Recreational, based on team index and individual rankings.
- At least 9 matches per player: Enjoy a well-filled day of play with matches spread over the entire weekend.
- Ranking based on sets won: Each set won earns your team a point for the final ranking.
- Compete for the prizes: Great rewards for the top three in each pool and no one goes home empty-handed.
đ A tournament with more than just sports
The tournament is more than just competition. On Saturday evening you can enjoy a fun BBQ, followed by a fantastic players' party. The perfect opportunity to get to know your fellow badminton players better and celebrate together.
đ Division and ranking
Teams are divided into five series based on two criteria: the team index (the sum of the rankings of the four strongest players) and the maximum individual ranking of a player.
- Team index: Teams with an index below the lower limit of their chosen series are automatically placed in a higher series.
- Individual ranking: A player with, for example, double ranking 4 and mixed ranking 5 has a maximum ranking of 9. A team with this player can only participate in series 1-5 or 5-7.
- Belgian ranking system: All Belgian competitive badminton players are ranked from 1 to 12. With 1 being the highest rank and 12 the lowest. Players not participating in official tournaments or competitions are recreational players and have the rank R.
This way we guarantee a fair competition in which teams play at the right level.
